More than 3,500 innovative solar road studs have been installed on Columbia Highways, which can use sunlight during the day and illuminate the road at night to help drivers stay safe.
The advantage of these
solar powered road studs is that they can also play an effective role in heavy rain, mist or fog, and can charge the device for more than 200 hours by charging for four hours during the day.
An Colombia highway introduced this solar stud in an improvement-the improvement also included high visibility lane markings to make it easier for drivers at night or in bad weather conditions; the colorful high-friction surface reduces the risk of skidding.
Relevant personnel said:
“We are always looking for new ways to further improve the travel and safety of drivers. This is a good example. This lane has no street lighting, so
solar road studs and modified lane signs are indeed different. At the same time, the new technology is more durable, which means less interference with drivers in the long run due to reduced road engineering.”
Standard road studs require car headlights to illuminate their reflective surface-usually, this means that the headlights can be seen 90 meters away, allowing the driver to drive at 60mph for about three seconds to respond to road conditions .
The new solar powered road stud is powered by solar energy, and solar panels absorb energy during the day. Throughout the night, solar road studs generate their own light through battery-powered LEDs and can be seen 900 meters away, allowing drivers to react at 60mph for more than 30 seconds.
